Give serious thought to embracing change by adopting the following 5C’s as you move through your next chapter.

Personal growth and development thrive on a steady stream of self-empowerment.
… Enter the 5 C’s of Change Template:
Confidence:
Have faith in yourself, your skill set, and your ability to learn and accept difference. Alone and/or with other people, you definitely can impact how the world relates to one another.
Courage:
Take “informed” action despite unsettling fear. Act as a leader. Step up and be accountable. Take the risks that leadership demands.
Commitment:
Focused determination and strategic consistency of effort describes the essence of commitment. At its heart is a passion for justice, driven by meaningful, validated knowledge and information.
Conflict:
A necessary and positive part of the change process, conflict is, in fact, an “opportunity” for deep personal reflection and assessment. It can be messy at times. However, view it as a process of creative abrasion and tension. In the end, experiencing conflict can actually promote win/win solutions for you and your community.
Community:
Learn how to function effectively within a diverse community. Work collectively and collaboratively with others towards a shared vision. In doing so, you’ll learn how to acknowledge, value, and affirm human diversity as essential to the overall well-being of the global universe.
Welcome to the world of adulting…
Some of you may not be ready for it. However, reality makes no exceptions.
So, by exposing yourself to a steady stream of the 5 C’s, self-empowerment can become a way of life.
As you become more familiar with your new environment, mentally visit from time to time the 5C’s template.
And, in your quiet moments on campus, let the 5 C template roll around in your head. Assess its merits in terms of your adjustment to your new campus life.
It may or may not be working for you at the moment.
Yet, you are achieving one goal…
Empowering yourself to exam the best of what you do and how you can do better!
Remember, always “begin with the end in mind”…
And, once again, congratulations graduates on your very significant achievement!

Whenever a college student faces an academic and/or social challenge, they often ask a peer or a friend first for advice.
And that’s okay.
However, resolving the issue to your best advantage often requires consulting with an academic advising professional as well.
Your academic adviser knows the campus academically, administratively, and socially.
And what they don’t know, they can point you to the person who does know. Include this strategy in your current plan for college success.
